Bruins Begin Season with Victory

UCLA sweeps Pacific and advances to semifinals.

The UCLA men's volleyball team defeated Pacific Friday night to advance to the semifinals of the 40th Annual UCSB Elephant Bar Invitational. The Bruins meet the winner of the UC Irvine-USC match at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The Bruins won 30-22, 30-25, 30-28 and raised their record to 1-0 overall. Pacific fell to 0-1.

UCLA freshman Steve Klosterman led the Bruins with 21 kills, followed by senior J.T. Wenger who added 17 kills. Senior libero Adam Shrader recorded six digs and is now just three shy of the UCLA career digs record.
