Bruins Defeat Gauchos, 3-0

The UCLA men's volleyball team defeated UC Santa Barbara Friday to snap a three-match losing streak and avenge last year's first round playoff loss.

The Bruins (5-6, 2-5) won 30-26, 31-29, 30-22 in 90 minutes before 631 fans in Pauley Pavilion.

The Gauchos fell to 3-9 overall and 1-6 in conference play.

Sophomore Jonathan Acosta led the Bruins with 11 kills and added four block assists and four digs. Freshman Matt McKinney added 10 kills, four digs and an ace. Chris Pena and Scott Morrow combined for 11 total blocks as the Bruins dominated the net, 14.5-5.0 in blocking.

UCSB's Keith Busam led the visitors with 11 kills.

UCLA hosts Pepperdine on Wed., Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion.
