The UCLA men's volleyball team defeated Cal State Northridge 3-2 Saturday night to win the 40th Annual Elephant Bar Invitational, hosted by UC Santa Barbara.
The Bruins won 30-19, 29-31, 30-21, 26-30, 15-12 in two hours and 10 minutes.
Freshman opposite Steve Klosterman smashed 22 kills (.462) and added three service aces to lead the Bruins. Damien Scott and junior Kris Kraushaar each added 11 kills. Kraushaar led the team with 10 digs, followed by senior Adam Shrader, who was voted MVP of the tournament. Shrader became UCLA's career digs leader over the weekend.
The Bruins hit .435 to the Matadors' .336 and outserved them 12 aces to five.
On Wed., Jan. 14, the Bruins open their home season with a 7 p.m. match in Pauley Pavilion against La Verne University.
